The League of Ukrainian Catholics was organized in 1933 by the late Metropolitan Archbishop Ambrose Senyshyn as an extension of the "Church" to lend lay assistance to a growing Ukrainian Catholic Community.

The "LUC" is the support group in many parishes to the clergy and to the hierarchy in the four Eparchies. This the Laity in action. The "LUC" membership is closely affiliated with the Church and is involved in many aspects of Church work. Most importantly, it is called to evangelize according to the directives of Vatican II. As an ecclesiastical organization, we serve as the "right hand" of the Ukrainian Catholic Church and the faith community.

Unlike other organizations, the LEAGUE OF UKRAINIAN CATHOLICS embraces families and individuals sharing common goals to reach out to the Church in need. Its purpose is to foster unity among all Ukrainians in the spiritual folds and embraces of our Faith. We promote the personal sanctification of each individual member as well as support programs for the religious training of the youth and adults in parishes.

Presently THE LEAGUE provides an in-service force to the clergy and religious serving our Church community. We work together with other Ecclesiastically approved organizations and promote a six fold program of religious, apostolic, educational, cultural, social and physical activities in each of the affiliated Councils/Chapters.

The foundation of THE LEAGUE is based on our love of our Eastern Rite and its rich spiritual heritage, as well as in the welfare of the faith community we serve.
